What better way to celebrate your well-earned Dusi finisher’s medal than a free after party, brought to you by Hansa Pilsner, at the legendary Hops Riverside – just a short walk over the bridge from the finish line. Besides the great vibe at this celebrated ocean view spot, the beers will be bitterly cold and the entertainment will be fiercely hot. On the line up are some of South Africa’s top bands at the moment with the evening entertainment being started off by local Durban North residents, The Subway Run. Having graced the Splashy Fen stage, this 3 piece band will be playing a combination of soul, blues, indie and a touch of folk, perfect for the early sundowners.
Now becoming a household name in South Africa the indie-at-heart Durban-based duo of Gary Nixon and Rudi Greyvenstein (The Kickstands) will be on hand to entertain. The Kickstands pride themselves on being able to perform at intimate venues as well as major festivals and showcase events. They’ve had the privilege to perform amongst and support some of South Africa’s most popular artists such as Goldfish, Just Jinjer, Goodluck, Albert Frost, Arno Carstens, Matthew Mole, Gangs of Ballet, Desmond and the Tutus and Mango Groove.
The former lead singer of The Springbok Nude Girls, Arno Carstens, needs no introduction and will be the headline act. This platinum selling, award winning singer and songwriter will grace the stage to offer incredible entertainment to those fortunate enough to be there. He’s graced the stages of almost every major music festival globally and performed with The Rolling Stones, U2 and Police on European tours.
David Jenkins, also know as Qadasi is an accomplished Maskandi musician who developed a deep passion for Zulu culture and music at a young age, growing up in Empangeni, right in the heart of Zululand. A fitting way to bring a close to the greatest African canoe race and to celebrate your success in style, with a bitterly cold Hansa.
