The five strong appeal jury has modified the sanction applied to the crew of Len Jenkins and Siseko Ntondini following an incident at the start of the FNB Dusi Canoe Marathon first stage on Thursday.
Jenkins and Ntondini made contact with the boat of Hank McGregor and Jasper Mocké on the Ernie Pearce Weir, resulting in a protest being lodged. The race committee considered the appeal and applied a two minute time penalty on Jenkins and Ntondini.
They appealed the decision and it was then reviewed by a race jury of five lawyers, who considered extensive evidence and the account of key individuals involved at the weir.
The appeal jury revised the sanction imposed on Jenkins and Ntondini to a reprimand.
