6 February 2017
Dear Dusi Paddler,
10 DAYS TO GO!!!
It’s only 10 days until registration for the 2017 FNB Dusi Canoe Marathon. We are still one of the biggest Canoe races in the World!!
LATE ENTRIES CLOSE
Online entries are now closed. If you have been really slack, you can still download a late entry form from the Dusi Website here.
Late entries will close midnight on Friday 10th February, and thereafter, entries will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED under any circumstances.
Day One Batches are available here.
CHARITY BATCH
The Charity Batch Auction ends on Thursday 9th at 4.00pm. This is your last chance to get a decent batch. You can place your bids here.
Please note the rules regarding bidding. We have had instances where paddlers make a bid and then refuse to pay. That is just not right, paddlers, so make sure you are serious about your bid.
DAY 3 RULES
We all know that the water levels on Day 3 are uncertain at the moment. This is causing us to have to re-write the rules for Day 3. We are busy discussing the options with all stakeholders, and will let everybody know what the plans are as soon as we have clarity.
FINAL INSTRUCTIONS
We always send out final instructions with our second to last newsletter. These will be delayed until we have clarity on the day 3 situation.
Please keep an eye on social media for this.
REGISTRATION
Registration starts at 9.00am at NCC on Wednesday 15th. The gates only open at 9.00, so please donโt come any earlier expecting any early favoursโฆ Thanks for your cooperation and help on this!
PADDLERS AND MEDIA BRIEFINGS
The A Batch and Ladies paddler briefing will be at NCC at 10am on Wednesday 15th February. ALL A Batch and invited Ladies paddlers are expected to be at this briefing. This will be a VERY IMPORTANT meeting as the final Day 3 rules will be discussed in detail. An attendance register will be provided, and all paddlers must sign in.
Paddlers attending the Paddlers Briefing must remain until the Media Officer indicates which paddlers need to be available for media interviews.
BOAT REPAIRS
It is important to note that there will be one repair centre at the finish of each stage – Canoe Concepts/Kayak Centre. Their capacity is limited and once they are fully booked they may not be able to cater for all the requests for boat repairs. So please bring your own repair kits into the valley every day!
ON THE BANK LIVESTREAMING
Livestream will again be our main broadcast channel. You can follow all the build-up, daily highlights and full day 3 live broadcast from the comfort of your office, mobile device or sitting at your home in front of your smart TV (or TV plugged into your laptop).
