The Molweni causeway is a compulsory portage – either left or right – and a chance to connect with your seconds. The rapid below the causeway can be portaged down the left hand side quickly and easily. To paddle the rapid (above 20 cumecs ideally), which is rocky and channeled by reed growth, look for the entrance two-third to the left and pick open lines moving slowly right.
From Molweni rapid there is a flat pool of around 100 metres before the entrance to the sweeping Marble Arches. Start river centre and when you reach the big rock stay left, moving positively and exit on the left hand channel.
